Gas Insulated Substation capacity doubles to 300 MW, further scalable up to 700 MW
Mumbai, July 12, 2024: CtrlS Datacenters, Asia’s largest Rated-4 datacenter company, announced availability of 300 MW grid power for its Mumbai datacenter campus. This will ensure availability of power to customers at all times, being in a position to feed the datacenter campus anytime.
The power capacity enhancement from 150 MW to 300 MW makes the company’s Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) the only substation in Asia, which is capable to support 300 MW of power capacity. This will enable the company to offer reliable power to meet evolving demands and needs of hyperscalers and enterprise customers.
The company which has doubled its grid power capacity to 300 MW further sees scope to enhance the capacity to 700 MW, keeping in mind the growing energy demands witnessed in Mumbai, India’s largest datacenter market.
Key features of CtrlS’ Mumbai GIS:
- Fully automated GIS requiring no manual operations.
- Ensures 100% uptime for the datacenter campus.
- Three different power sources fed into the GIS, reducing dependency on generators further
reducing carbon emissions. - Built-in redundancy with (2+1) power supply.
- LILO plus radial incoming 220kV feeders.
- Eliminates voltage jerks on the existing 22kV power supply line.
- 24×7 monitoring and control by a hot standby redundant SCADA system for seamless switchover in case of failure.
The deployment of 300 MW GIS scalable to 700 MW is our commitment to the industry as we continue to address the growing needs of hyperscalers, telcos, BFSI, healthcare, gaming, and new-age companies.
Mumbai datacenter campus with its cutting-edge infrastructure, scalable solutions and enhanced power capacity will be able to support customers’ critical and power-intensive operations. Uninterrupted and reliable power is key to offer seamless experience to customers.
With very limited sensitivity to environment, humidity and being highly corrosion resistant and seismic resistant, the GIS possesses an operating life of over 50 years, with no maintenance requirement for 25 years and protected against aggressive environmental conditions. This makes GIS an unique asset.
